We don't know nothin' about nothin', but yikes, $200/barrel? Could that happen far sooner than later?
If this happens, what exactly happens? Do local gasoline prices crank higher? If so, what then? Public transportation?* Car pooling? Telecommuting? What happens when unemployed folks can't even afford to drive to job interviews?
Anyway, we don't actually know (and we don't even know if oil will hit that high... this soon). We guess our real question is, "How high does oil have to go before the United States gets serious about alternative energy?"

We'd take the bus if she would.
There is no shortage for oil. There is record setting amounts of oil being produced daily. The oil companies are simply putting up the price of fuels because they can. They know that us stupids are going to buy it. What needs to happen is for us to boycott, and not buy any fuels. This would be impossible, but it is the only way. And you cannot only boycott it for a day, it would have to be at least for a month. And the whole world would have to participate in this.

It's good to hear BP & GM talk about alternative fuels, but 50 years to implement is too long.

It is GM's electric concept car the Chevy Volt. If more people begin to demand alternative fuel cars, we should be able to speed the rate at which the technology is developed.

It'd shock the heck out of the economy, that's for sure, but maybe we could get some dang infrastructure for walking and biking.

Only an idiot would believe the President of the United States controls oil prices....do read anything but comic books.
Does OPEC mean anything to you....or maybe the fact that the fruits and nuts won't let us drill for out OWN oil.
You must be a Democrat.....
