Left Lane News reports: GPS to help slow speeders.
This article talks about a new system being put into place to literally let drivers know when they are speeding (by vibrating the accelerator). How long before the car just slows down on its own based on posted (or unposted) speed limits? How long before the tickets just show up in the mail?
In October we wrote about other big brother technology being researched to have the government disable your car: License To Drive. That's right: the government can just flick a switch and turn yer car off.
Speaking of government: How long before that new-fangled EZ-PASS system figures out that you had to have been going 75 mph between tolls in order to pay toll A at 6:53 pm and toll B at 7:17 pm? Hell, maybe the government can just deduct the fine right out of our bank accounts and save us the worry of opening our mail and having to respond.
The chance for abuse in these systems is so great that we can't imagine them being used legally.
