Jalopnik reports: First Pontiac G8 Rolls Off Holden Assembly Line. Not for nothing, but are folks lining up for Pontiacs nowadays? The kids sure ain't-a talking about 'em (even the Solstice isn't being talked about much).
So, GM and Holden take another swing in Pontiac stadium to see if they can do better than the previous questionable foul ball.
Think Holden has what Americans want?
Where I live, Pontiacs are redneck cars. you can just hear banjo sounds coming out of them. having said that, they do sell reasonably well but so does the prius. i like the idea of the g8 but i think the styling is kinda ugly.

The G8 is the best thing GM has done for Pontiac in a really long time. It's certainly not a Mustang competitor, and won't put a dint in Camry sales, but it meets Pontiac needs a lot better than a Torrent GXP. www.goodcarbadcar.blogspot.com has been talking about the G8 off-and-on for weeks now.

They sell a lot of Pontiacs in my town. Pontiac is a little behind the times but I thought the G8 looked like it has good potential. It looks pretty good and I think it is what the GTO should have been based on.
I don't know if it should be compaired to a Mustang GT since it's a midsize family sedan replacing the Grand Prix.

I'm actually pretty excited about the G8. I like the looks, the utility of a 4-door and the V8 should be able to smoke most Mustangs. The only thing that makes me cringe is the 35k estimated price. No way that car is worth 10k over a Mustang GT, especially with the platform being shared as widely as it will be (Holden, Camaro).
I might have to wait for the Camaro... which looks even better.
