Edmunds reports: Audi Q7 4.2: Racking up the mileage.
So far our Audi Q7 has covered 5,498 miles at an average fuel consumption rate of 14.5 mpg. Our Q7 packs the 4.2-liter V8 so its EPA rated at 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway, but most of our travels with the Audi has been in and around Los Angeles where its fuel use has ranged between 11.5 mpg and 14.3 mpg. With that crap of fuel economy, how can you even get away from the pump? We bet you could rev the engine while filling up to see the gas pump's dials spin faster.
Don't get us wrong, we can appreciate big. But 11.5 mpg is just so wasteful... Even our crap (hey, it wasn't crap, it was hawesome... who's writing this anyway?) Ford F-150 Flareside did better than 11.5 mpg. Sheesh!

I'm not an eco-nut but 12 miles to the gallon? I used to own a '72 Cadillac that got better mileage...

Oh good grief. Stop whining and buy a Prius. The Q7 is a gorgeous SUV that clearly isn't targeted towards the smelly hippie types. Give us a break with the preachy "save the planet" Berkley mantra in all of these posts. If you write about cars, please understand that some of us love cars. Big, consuming, fast, beautiful, cars. SUV's are cool too. If that bothers you, move over to writing for Mother Jones or Al Gore. His ghost-writing team is working at capacity and I'm sure they are hiring. I'll wave at you as I roar by in my Hummer.
