The big American car. Well, the new, big American car. Or, better still, the new, big, American cruiser. I have high hopes for the 2005 Chrysler 300C and am eager to see if American buyers choose it over its competitors. If they do, the 2005 Chrysler 300C has a chance to revive an ailing American market. In fact, the only thing that may derail this car from being a runaway success is quality. If Chrysler did its homework and made this a truly well-built car, the 300's got all of the qualities to make a real difference:
* Big V8
* Lots of cabin space
* Aggressive styling
* Affordable starting price
That last one gives me some pause, however. The low starting price (<$24k) is only achieved with an asthmatic V6 and was certainly included just to get the price low enough to make the car run with the 'less than $25k' crowd. But most people are going to opt for the bigger V6 (it's a good one) or the gas guzzling V8 (340 horsepower, same as the Dodge Magnum listed below). The V8 changes the 300 into a 300C.
I consider myself a greener-than-most auto journalist and I'd even opt for the V8. I mean, look at it!
2005 Chrysler 300C
At first glance it looks like a Caddy. Same roof-line and rear end styling.
