I am declaring the 2005 Maserati Quattroporte the best looking high-end sedan for 2005 (and beyond?). It has none of the funky BMW, Chris Bangle-treatment, it has none of the uber-retro look of the Rolls and it certainly isn't a copy of the ever-sleeping Mercedes S-class. The Quattroporte is nothing but smooth, silky, dare I say sensuous curved lines. There's no mistaking it for anything but Italian.
It's such a good-looking car that when men turn their heads to watch it go by, wives will slap them out of habit.
It remains to be seen, of course, if Maserati will be able to match the quality of the other high-end competition. I'm comfortable writing that this Quattroporte will never be as reliable as a 2005 Lexus LS 430. Ever. If you want reliable, then the 430 is your car. If you want to feel alive, however, ditch Sally-plain-and-tall and take a redhead out for a romp.
