Ford Sees Plug-in Hybrids In 5-10 years, Bankruptcy in 2

CNN reports: Ford sees plug-in hybrids in 5-10 years.

Ford Motor Company Chief Executive Alan Mulally says he expects the company to sell plug-in hybrids in five to 10 years.

Ford Escape Hybrids are being used as taxis in San Francisco (above) and New York.

"Within five to 10 years we will start to see this technology in our hands," Mulally said on the sidelines of a press event to announce an alliance between Ford and utility Southern California Edison to test 20 rechargeable electric vehicles.

Five to 10? Come on, man! Everyone knew this was coming. We're talking 2017 before we can plug in a Pinto? They still make Pintos, right? Boom!

We seriously wonder if Ford will even be around in 10 years. In fact, Mulally might as well predict "Free cars in 5-10 years. With hookers. And booze! ... Well, forget the cars and booze."

This article is very helpful for the future. Yes I agree that Ford needs to change too.

At least Mr.Mulally is listening and trying to change Ford. While many of those FAT CATS are stealing the industry blind. Ford will survive because it is doing the right thing!

Great article on the future of auto sales and Ford Motor Company. I also have a hard time seeing some of the big three around for much longer unless the government takes them over or helps them out.

Here's a great article on what could and may happen to Ford, GM and Chrysler in th enear future. This is an absolute must read for anyone interested even slightly in cars:

I'm not so sure we as consumers are getting the full picture when it comes to green cars. the Toyota Prius came off worse than a Hummer in a life Cycle test. I think it was largely to do with the cost of the process to manufacture the batteries (environmental cost that is). The batteries have a very short life cycle too making it even worse.
Perhaps Ford are right to hold off, you never know they might come back with the right answer.

While the real issue is the future of ford, it will not matter anymore if CARS are for FREE 5-10 years from now. :)

I think Ford will pull out of it they always do...Hybrids who knows what will happen with this market?

Ford does not seem to have its act together with its Hybrid strategy.

HAHAHA, thank you for the Futurama reference... Made my morning. That's one of my favorite Bender quotes.

The world is changing rapidly with or without Ford. I think its time for Ford to change too.

Yeah Ford better get on the Ball... The Auto World is changing with or without them...

While the comments about free cars w/ hookers and booze made me laugh, the real issue is the future of ford...and I have to agree it's grim.
