Alert reader, Erick, sent us a note about some "lawmaker" who wants to ban spinners and impose a $10 fine for cars with them installed. What's a spinner? Oh, you old fool. Look, we're totally out of touch with the young people of today (fact: when we were young we were out of touch, too) but even we know what spinners are. We see lots of spinners in our small town of Brooklyn, NYC. And while we're currently paying for braces, ballet lessons, anti-depressants and electric shock treatments we're probably going to have to break down and get a set of spinners for our rusted-out sh*t box. A spinner is a wheel cover that continues to rotate even when the wheel isn't moving. They're attention-getters like fancy paint jobs, loud exhaust pipes and Nicole Kidman.
Some folks are talking about the spinner problem on this message board and they don't like it one bit. The Omaha-World Herald covers the spinners problem with their globe-trotting staff.
Here's our take on spinners, banning spinners and imposing fines on spinners: Dougy S, your idea ain't so fresh. If there's that little going on in your small world that you have to pick on folks with spinners... or is that it? Doug you trying to single any one out here? And as far as distracting... HELLO?! Cars are distracting. Every year the industry holds several shows around the world to say, "Look at our cars! They are fancy and new. LOOKIT! LOOKIT! LOOKIT!"
Our idea: fine people who drive poorly. Whether or not they have spinners.
Our apologies for the lame graphic -- we don't like animated dealies so there's no way to show you the spinner doing its thang
